_Our Project
DOMINIA is an interdisciplinary research project set out to investigate the role of the state as a complex spatial policy system that mediates the interactions between Landed Commons and broader socio - political dynamics.
DOMINIA aspires to advance the scientific and policy discourse on the dynamics of Landed Commons in Europe capable to address land use conflicts and discrepancies between increasing land demands and sustainable development.
Case-study research is conducted in order to examine the agency of commoners vis-à-vis the regulatory environment of the state in seven EU countries, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Spain,Greece, and in Morocco.

The research programme is hosted by KU Leuven and funded by the Research Foundation - Flanders (FWO). Research is conducted in collaboration with Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and Harokopio University of Athens (HUA) in Greece.
